A kid accumulated $150.00 in 150 coins consisting of dimes, half dollars, and silver dollars only. Find the minimum number of silver dollar coins.

This is a tricky problem. It is obvious that the minimum number of silver dollars must be 150, otherwise total amount will never be $150.00.
So number of dimes = number of half dollars = 0!

I think you changed the problem or I misread it. So why do you give problems that you apparantly know the answer to. It cheapens the purpose of this website.

The way the problem is stated, I'd go with 150 silver dollars, 0 half dollers and 0dimes. If you remove one silver dollar, and use half dollars and dimes, you will end up with more than 150 coins. The problem does not state that there needs to be one of each.

matherapist's answer is wrong, because 149 silver dollars + 1 half dollar + 5 dimes will make a total of 155 coins instead of 150 coins.

I think you are asking about Canadian currency. If so dimes means 10 cent, There is no coin of half dollars. Do you mean Silver dollars= $2, if it is so please confirm, if so I will send you the correct answer.
