The answer to this depends on the intended operation intended. That is, if two digits are adjacent to one another, this may imply muliplication noting that "5 4" algebracally can mean either 5 x 4 = 20 or it can also imply an addition of the ten's place digit to the one's place digit giving "54" implying 50 + 4. So depending upon what was inplied, the answer can be either 2 + 20 = 22 or 2 + 54 = 56.

2 + 54 = 56 Why?

Based on the general expression x + 10n, the variable x represents the last digit of a number with n following the ones place of the digit. By substitution, (x + 10n) = (4 + 10(5)), where (x = 4) && (n = 5). By letting (x = 0) yields merely 10n, which is the least number rounded to the nearest ten. With ( n = 5), you have 10(n) = 10(5) = 50. Moreover, the number 4 is a single digit equivalent to 04 with 4 being in the ones place. Semantically, the addition of 50 and 4 is with respect to the digits of each number; that is, since 50 is a two-digit number and 4 is a singular digit, adding them together would be with respect to the digits place or position. Thus, by adding the digits of the ones and tens place yields a total of 54 = 50 + 04. By knowing this fact alone, you can easily find the remnant sum of 54 || (4 + 10(5)) by adding the numbers based on their digits place, which 54 + 02 = 56 = (6 + 10(5)) => (x + 10n).

Always start on the right hand side of a problem or the ones column.
As you can see, 50 is 5 tens and 0 ones. You can add the 2 ones plus 4 ones to get 6 ones.
Then go to the tens column and add 5 tens plus 0 tens to get 5 tens.
So 5 tens and 6 ones is 56.

I think this question is some kind of joke... Any student of class 1 can answer this... Even the question is placed in wrong category - Anatomy & Physiology .

Can any one explain how this question is related to either Anatomy or, Physiology
