math_fanatic 		I'll pretend this is a philosophical question and not hit the abuse button.
In Descartes' argument "I think therefore I am" he was able to prove that
no matter how false our perceptions might be, in cannot be denied that
we are perceiving things, therefore whatever it is that is perceiving exists.
Thus I can be certain that I exist. HOWEVER, though Descartes went on
to try to prove the existence of other things he failed and so has everyone
else who has attempted it since in my opinion. Thus, the ONLY thing I
can be certain of is that I exist. So all the knowledge we think we have consists
of beliefs, some we feel more certain of than others, but none we can be
ABSOLUTELY certain about. So for Christmas this year, I would like
to have absolute certainty about something other than my existence.
