In response to the below post, I would have to say that it is certainly possible to have a general "What-If" function that can answer any type of question. There are several processing machines that perform functions such as answering "What-If" scenarios. These processing machines are called Knowledge-Based Systems, and they can answer any type of "What-If" question.

what is your question exactly?

You can make an excel spreadsheet to do these calculations or you could write a computer program to do it for you. I use a calculator to predict my gpa but it's a multi-step process. The formula for doing this would be a weighted average. Let's say you had classes a,b, and c which had 3, 4, and 5 units respectively. You got an a in class a, a b in class b, and a c in class c. Your calculation would be:

(3*4.0 + 4*3.0 + 5*2.0)/12 = 34/12 = 2.8333 (12 is the total number of units)

If you're asking what we think of the idea, in terms of what? This is not a new concept. People do these kind of calculations to predict outcomes all the time. That's what computer modeling is for.

If you're talking about a general "what if" function to answer all possible outcomes of any given situation, it is impossible to create.
