What does the S stand for?

In Mr. Harry S Truman's name, what does the S stand for?

President Truman himself has answered this question. According to him:
The names of two of his grandfathers were (1) Anderson Shipp Truman and (2) Solomon Young.
He also has mentioned several times that the letter S or S. must be deleted because it does not stand for any name.
