-25x + 20y = -60
moving -25x to the righthand side:
20y = 25x - 60, dividing both sides by 20:
y = (25/20)x - (60/20) or
y = 1.25 x - 3.
The coefficient of x is the graph slope.
i.e. 1.25 <==

JRami
-25X+20y=-60
add 25X on both sides to get
20Y = 25X - 60
Divide both sides by 20 to get
Y = (25/20) X - (60/20)
Y = (5/4) X - 3
Slope = (5/4) = 1.25

You must first transorm the equation to slope-intercept form (-20y = 25x - 60). Then divide by the coefficient of y (y = 25x/-20 - 60/-20) = y = -5/4x +3. So the slope is 5/4.

Doctor Bob
The basic formula is:
y = mx + b
the m in front of the x is always the slope, i.e., the coefficient of x is the slope
and so, after we express the original equation in terms of y = mx + b, whatever is the coefficient of the x is the slope
we take the original equaltion -25x +20y=60 and rearrange it to solve for y (y = mx+b)
therefore:
20y = 25x + 60 (then solve for y by dividing both sides by 20
y = (25x + 60) / 20 (divide both 25x and 60 by 20)
y = 5/4x +3
we stated earlier that the coefficient of x is the slope
and so, the slope is 5/4 or 1.25 GOOD LUCK

First, you need to do the algebra to get this equation into the form y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y - intercept.
So let's solve for y:

First, get the x on the other side of the equal sign so the y term is by itself:

subtract -25x from both sides of the equation:

20y = -60 - (-25x)
20y = -60 + 25x
20y = 25x - 60

We're getting closer to the form we need y = mx + b but now we need to get rid of that 20 in front of the y.
So divide both sides of the equation by 20:

20y/20 = 25x/20 - 60/20
y = 1.25x - 3

Now the equation is in the right form and since m is the slope the slope is 1.25.
Make sense?

Put the equation in the form of a straight line of the form y=mx + b

So
20y = 25x -60
divide both sides by 20 and get

y=(25/20)x-(60/20) = 1.25x-3 where 1.25 is the slope and -3 is the y intercept
