need help with problem

Use graph of f to find each indicated function value. y=f(x). The graph is looped. f(-2), the answer is -4 but the book doesn't help me in how it got the answer.

What level of math is this?
It's kind of hard to help you "use graph of f" when you don't give us the graph of f to look at.
All you've given is a coordinate and that's not enough. f(x) could be any function that contains the point (-2, -4). You say it's looped. Where is the loop? How many loops are there?

If I had to guess, I'd say look at the point on f where x=-2 and see if by looking at the graph you can tell that y=-4 at that point.
